Our Process
At Armor, we don’t just blow insulation and leave. We follow a proven 7-step process to make sure your attic is done right:
1. Ensure Ventilation is Open and Flowing
Before we begin any insulation work, we make sure your attic’s ventilation is clear and functioning properly. Proper airflow prevents moisture buildup, extends roof life, and helps maintain consistent indoor temperatures.
2. Install Rafter Vents (Baffles)
We install high-quality rafter vents, also known as baffles, to keep air flowing from your soffit vents into the attic space. This step is essential for maintaining balanced ventilation and preventing insulation from blocking airflow.
3. Seal Major Heat Loss Areas
Our team seals around plumbing stacks, electrical penetrations, and other gaps where warm air escapes into the attic. This reduces energy loss and improves your home’s overall comfort and efficiency.
4. Cover & Insulate Can Lights / Vent Pipes
We safely cover and insulate recessed lighting, exhaust fans, and vent pipes to prevent heat from escaping through these common problem areas—while ensuring everything remains code-compliant and safe.
5. Add Insulation Rulers
We install depth rulers throughout the attic to guarantee consistent insulation coverage. These rulers help us verify that the correct amount of material is applied to meet your home’s energy efficiency goals.
6. Insulate Attic Hatch
The attic access hatch is often overlooked, but it’s a major source of heat loss. We seal and insulate this area to make sure your attic is fully protected and energy-efficient from top to bottom.
7. Blow in Insulation to DOE Standards
Finally, we blow in premium Owens Corning® AttiCat® PINK® fiberglass insulation to the exact depth recommended by the U.S. Department of Energy for your region. This ensures maximum comfort, lower energy bills, and long-term performance.
